What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR therapy is an extensively researched method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a psychotherapy designed to help people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences by reprocessing traumatic memories, reducing their emotional impact, and changing negative beliefs associated with them, primarily using guided eye movements or other bilateral stimulation (tapping, sounds) while recalling the memory. It's highly effective for PTSD and can also help with anxiety, depression, and other issues, allowing the brain to process stuck experiences and develop healthier perspectives.

Why do some people choose EMDR therapy?

Not Just Talking: EMDR is often less talk-intensive than traditional therapy, focusing instead on the brain’s natural healing processes. It can be especially helpful for emotions or experiences that feel “stuck,” where talk therapy hasn’t been able to fully access or resolve distressing feelings or thoughts.

Structured & Efficient: It's a structured, phased approach that can often lead to rapid improvement.
